Chip has joined a noted group of celebrities whose cartoon caricatures are on the walls of the famed Palm Restaurant at Universal Orlando Resort! The honor occurred in December when Mannheim Steamroller performs weekend concerts at the resort.
Universal’s President and Chief Operating Officer Bill Davis presented the caricature to Chip for his personal signing. It is now hanging on the storied walls of the Palm along with stars as Frank Sinatra and Styx. Also participating in the ceremony were Jim Timon, Vice President of Entertainment for Universal and Jim Stout who heads up the resort’s talent booking and casting.
The first Palm restaurant opened in New York City way back in 1926. The caricature tradition began when upcoming artists would literally “sing for the supper” and draw on the restaurant walls rather than paying the bill. Today the acclaimed restaurant is in many other locations and the walls of all Palm Restaurants are covered with depictions of historic and current celebrities!
