Father’s Day brings wonderful memories of my late father and also my grandfather. Both men had a strong influence on the person I am today. My grandfather was a country doctor and sometimes I would go with him when he was called out at night. As I waited outside, I spent my time looking at — and wondering about — celestial skies. Years later, that wonder resulted in many of my Fresh Aire compositions. My father was a music teacher and also a master craftsman of musical instruments. He designed and constructed the “Davis Harpsichord”, an innovation that could produce the sounds that helped make the music of Mannheim Steamroller so distinctive. On this Father’s Day, I am grateful as I recall these memories. Happy Father’s Day to every Dad out there!I
